It’s time to say goodbye, but it’s not time to be sad. Over the years, the goal at Calmar has been to help people enjoy riding more. Based on the feedback we received from our customers this month, we can say that we achieved that. By the numbers, Calmar has sold over 10,000 bikes. An innumerable percentage were to new and developing riders whom we either helped get started or helped take their riding to the next level. Our help wasn’t just for those that bought bikes either. We were there to solve problems, whether it was the need for a safe route to work or explaining how to fix a flat.
The effect Calmar had on the community will be here long after we’re gone. Our manager continues to serve on the city’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and on the board of the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition. These groups make sure there are great places to ride. He also serves on the Lake Cunningham Bike Park steering committee, helping guide city staff in developing what is about to become an amazing regional mountain bike park in San Jose.
